Model Schools
NNREC wishes to recognize and work with model environmental education schools and EIC (Environmental as an Integrating Context for learning) schools. We have not yet established criteria for what we consider to be a model school, but it would include a subject integrated program for at least one grade level, a service learning project, effective use of schoolyard or community resources, and the ability to host visitors from other schools who want to learn more about your program.
If you are a school with an innovative program, please let us know by emailing . Not only can we recognize and publicize your program, you have the opportunity to help NNREC develop its model school criteria.
Schools with Schoolyard Habitats certified by the National Wildlife Federation include:
- Bendorf ES, Las Vegas
- Donner Springs ES, Reno
- Fremont ES, Carson City
- Wasden ES, Las Vegas
