Nevada Environmental Literacy Guideline

NNREC has developed the Nevada Environmental Literacy Guideline with the help of a number of individuals serving on the EE Training Plan. The document will be revised in the first quarter of 2007. You may submit suggestions for revision through the NNREC Wiki for the guide, or by email to Dan Allison.

The need for environmental education in Nevada has never been greater. In addition to the benefits that EE can bring to overall academic performance through subject integration and student motivation, there is a critical need for a environmentally literate citizenry to become involved in and make responsible decisions on issues of environmental quality, economic sustainability, and social justice.

The Guideline provides an initial framework for defining the knowledge, skills and attitudes that an environmentally literate citizen and student would possess.

The Guideline is an element of the future Nevada Master Plan for Environmental Literacy, along with the Nevada Environmental Education Training Plan and Environmental Educator Certification Program. The Guide is aligned with the NAAEE Excellence in Environmental Education: Guidelines for Learning (PreK-12) - list.
