Project WET Syllabus
Project WET (Water Education for Teachers) is a national nonprofit water education program for educators and students, grades K-12. Project WET is a science and math education enhance-ment program focused on grades K-12. It is an interdisciplinary program intended to supplement a school's existing curriculum.
The mission of National Project WET is to increase awareness, appreciation, knowledge and stewardship of water resources. Project WET offers Nevada's teachers classroom-ready teaching aids such as activity guides, lesson plans, groundwater and watershed models, computer simulations, publications and a network of specialists to call upon, so that incor-porating water education into the classroom is easy for teachers and interesting for children.
Goals for the Course: The goal of Project WET is to facilitate and promote awareness, appreciation and knowledge of Nevada’s water resources through the development and dissemination of ready to use teaching aids. Special emphasis is given to strengthening students’ understanding of the importance of water to all water users (e.g. farmers, ranchers, recreationalists, municipalities, fish, wildlife, power, and industry) and to the belief that good water management is essential to Nevada’s future.
