NNREC Members Lending Library
The NNREC members lending library is a membership benefit - you must be a member to borrow books. The catalog shows the books available. Topic pages are also available: forests, water, children's literature, place-based service-learning, and Responsive Classroom. Any item may be unavailable for a period of time up to a month if it is already checked out, or if it is being used in a workshop.
To borrow items, please email , listing the item(s) by title, and providing your mailing address. They will be mailed to you. You must mail them back no later than three weeks after you received them. We pay one way, you pay the other. You are fully responsible for the item - loss or significant damage means you pay the full retail price of the book to replace it.
You can also use the catalog as a source of ideas for materials you might want to check for at your local public library, or to purchase. If you want to purchase, we recommend first your local bookstore, second Acorn Naturalists, third Powells Books, fourth Amazon and fifth ABEBooks. Getting onto the Acorn Naturalists mailing list will get you a catalog each year, full of wonderful resources on which you could spend your entire annual income! And, they are a great company.
In addition to the books, these items are available for loan, again just to members:
- environmental music CDs: Banana Slug String Band/Dirt Made My Lunch, Banana Slug String Band/Singing In Our Garden, Bill Oliver/Have to Have a Habitat, MUSE/One Land, One Heart, MUSE/Eye of the Hunter, MUSE/Songs for the Earth: a tribute to Rachel Carson, Rhymin' Reason, Walkin' Jim Stoltz/Little Pieces of Time, Walkin' Jim Stolz/Spririt is Still on the Run & Forever Wild. These are not being offered so that you can copy them - please listen and then buy if you like it.
- compass set: A classroom set of 16 Brunton 9020G compasses with lanyards, matching teaching compass for overhead projector, whistles, and Staying Found book.
Nonprofit Library
