VISTA Environmental Literacy Program
NNREC has received a grant from the Nevada Office of the Corporation for National and Community Service for four AmeriCorps*VISTA members to be placed with NNREC and partners!
New Members!
We have two new VISTA in the program who will start their year of service November 26.
- Josie Glassberg will join Sierra Nevada Journeys (SWNJ) as the Women in Science & Leadership Initiative Developer. SNJ will have two VISTA positions this year, and then one will move on to another partners next year.
- Joanne Rosenfeld will join Nevada Natural Resource Education Council (NNREC) as the Environmental Literacy Program Developer.

oanne Rosenfeld, Environmental Literay Program Developer, NNREC, Carson City NV.
Joanne moved to Lake Tahoe from Laconia, New Hampshire. Joanne received a Bachelors degree in English Literature and Creative Writing from Colby College in Waterville, Maine. She's had a variety of experience developing environmental curriculum for students of all ages. As an AmeriCorps*VISTA member, she focuses on developing and implementing place-based education models with schools throughout Northwestern Nevada.
Allyson Butler, Project Planner, Public Lands Institute, Las Vegas NV
Allyson moved to Las Vegas from Pensacola, Florida, where she received a Bachelors degree in Education. Her passion for the outdoors brought her to seek ways to combine learning with the environment. As an AmeriCorps*VISTA member, she will be focusing on programs related to education and community engagement. Allyson is currently pursuing a Masters degree in Administration at UNLV.
Meg O'Neill, Coordinator for Women in Science & Leadership Initiative, Sierra Nevada Journeys, Reno NV
Meg has been teaching kids since she was one herself. She has a wide variety of experience with children in the outdoors, from rock climbing programs for inner-city youth to county-run science and outdoor education programs. She hails from the San Francisco Bay Area, and has lived many places (including New Zealand!) since. Meg loves to rock climb and hike in her free time.

SNJ VISTA member Meg O'Neill and Public Lands Institute VISTA member Allyson Butler attended the August 20 VISTA Pre-Service Orientation (PSO) in Provo UT.
