NAAEE

NNREC is an institutional member of the North American Association for Environmental Education (NAAEE), and the official Nevada affiliate of NAAEE. As an affiliate, NNREC shares information and concerns from Nevada with NAAEE and the larger international EE community, and shares information from NAAEE and the larger international EE community with NNREC and its members. NNREC encourages its members to also become a member of NAAEE.

Conference

NAAEE members gather each year for the international conference at some location in North America. Virginia Beach VA is the location for the 2007 conference, November 13-17. NNREC encourages its members to attend this international conference. The conference have great keynotes, a huge variety of presentations, pre-conference workshops that go in-depth on particular issues, and continual opportunities for networking. The conferences are expensive, so early planning is a good idea, for the early registration level and for obtaining the least expensive travel and lodging arrangements.

Dan Allison would be happy to talk with anyone about his experiences attending the last five conferences, and the value of the conferences to people working in or interested in environmental education ( , 775-882-2375)

Affiliates Network

The NNREC Affiliate Liaison, Dan Allison, serves on the Steering Committee of the Affiliates Network, which is an organization of state and provincial EE organizations which have joined to work with NAAEE and to provide leadership and coordination for the field of environmental education. In addition, Dan is a member of the Utah Communication Collaborative, an effort to enhance the relationship between the NAAEE Board, the NAAEE Staff, and the Affiliates Network, developing an internal and external communications plan. Dan also serves on the NAAEE Site Selection Committee and was chair for three years.
